Oops, wrong holiday to talk about resurrecting. But it's been over five damn months since I've written in here, and I've refused to read the last rites! So maybe I'll just quietly resume. I guess the blog was the victim of my work writing for MSN Movies as well as Facebook which has become the repository of many of my non-sequitir pop culture musings. To get back in the swing of things, I may move some of those over here. Let's start with some Christimas cheer! (There's nothing Jews love more!)
I've been participating in Neil Kramer's online holiday concert extravaganza since he started it in the glory days of blogging seven years ago and this year Charlie, Leah, and I contributed our third video (we forgot how it was only in 2009 when videos became easy to upload for anyone--before that Neil's concert was all audio).
This year, having exhausted our Hanukkah repertoire, we returned to Christmas songs, by way of the Broadway musical "Annie." Charlie has been singing this entire song on the top of his lungs all week, including at our Christmas Eve dinner last night at Kendall's mom's house.
We were better Jews last year and paid tribute to the Festival of Lights (with a few Xmas twists). Note that a few minutes after feeding our dogs those latkes that you see in the video, they promptly threw up big time. Was it the potatoes, the onions, or the oil? Oy.
Charlie still enjoys watching that video! 2010 was the only year I missed Neil's concert, but in 2009 we made our first video when he was just a little baby! Look how young Leah looks, too, she was about to turn 15. A few minutes after shooting this, our dog Emma completely destroyed that cute manger-like bassinet that Charlie is in. Oy. But he wasn't in it at the time--don't worry!
And there you have our time-lapsed holiday concert. We seem to be acknowledging our Judaism every other year so I need a killer Hanukkah tune for 2013. All ideas welcome. Maybe by then Charlie will be able to sing in Hebrew.
Sooo glad you're back! I love your posts because they're informative and you have such a friendly way of saying everything. I haven't seen Annie in many years and loved seeing your family's New Deal for Christmas precious rendition!
